United States The Flammability properties of all wearing apparel (adult & children) are highly regulated by the Flammable Fabrics Act (FFA) in the United States. These regulations are stated in the United States Code of Federal Regulations, 16 CFR Part 1608 (General Rules and Regulations Under the Flammable Fabrics Act), Part 1609 (Text of the Flammable Fabrics Act of 1953, etc.) and Part 1610 (Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles). No wearing apparel or fabric maybe exported or sold in the United States without meeting flammability standards. Canada The flammability properties of all textiles products are regulated by Hazardous Products Act (HPA) in Canada. The HPA covers the sale, importation and advertising of a variety of products which may or likely, pose a danger to the user. Specific flammability requirements for textiles are noted in the Textile Flammability Regulation SOR/2011-22, flammability is tested in accordance with Canadian General Standards Board standard CAN/CGSB 4.2 NO 27.5.
